About this experience
Prague Castle is the residence of princes, kings, and presidents. It is the hallmark of Prague, and the special feature of our tour is that we will visit everywhere: we will enter all the temples and palaces that are open to visitors. The architecture will speak to us in the languages of its time, and history will reveal its secrets.
What to expect
- I will show you kings and holy relics, we will visit behind the altar of the Cathedral of St. Vitus, Wenceslaus, and Adalbert, we will understand why the cult of St. Vitus, a small Sicilian boy, has been so strong since the 10th century and remains so to this day.
- We will also see the silver shrine of the famous Prague saint - John of Nepomuk, it is at his monument on Charles Bridge where tourists make wishes (I will tell you where and how to make a wish correctly, you can do it once a year, but it will definitely come true).
- We will examine the Cathedral of St. Vitus from all sides. I will talk about Gothic architecture and its historical role in the development not only of Christianity but also of social life in medieval Europe.
- Our plans also include a visit to the Picture Gallery of Prague Castle, where treasures are stored: originals by Titian, Cranach, Rubens, Tintoretto.
- We will visit the royal chambers, where one historical scandal took place, which provoked the Thirty Years' War in Europe.
- In the Old Royal Palace we will encounter an unusual exhibition of clothing, we will see incredible treasures, such as a medallion from the sarcophagus of Charles IV with a fragment of the Last Supper tablecloth.
- Then we will find ourselves in the square in front of the Romanesque shrine of Prague Castle - here we will almost touch the history for almost two thousand years - it's not that much!
- We will walk along the colorful Golden Lane, one of the narrowest streets in Prague famous for its tenants over the centuries, just remember Franz Kafka who stayed here at his cousin's.
- We will take a break, have coffee or beer and continue our walk in the fresh air, through the gardens and parks of Prague Castle.
