About this experience
Welcome to the open-air museum — Porto! It is truly a city with a soul, where a collection of amazing buildings is gathered, where every house is faced with bright azulejos, and the inhabitants sincerely smile at passers-by. I will reveal to you the beauty of Porto on its streets, squares, and from the viewpoints. And I will also let you taste it — in family wine cellars.
What to expect
All the highlights of Porto
Let's start the walk from the modern-style Aliados Square in Parisian taste. From there, we'll head to São Bento station — the crowning symbol of Porto: its walls are adorned with beautiful panels of classical Portuguese tiles, and if you get closer, you can see scenes from the country's history. On the way, you will visit St. Anthony Congregados Church — the heart of Catholicism in the city, and then we'll head to Pena Ventosa hill, where Porto was once founded, and where the oldest structure stands — Cathedral. Additionally, you will cross the famous Dona Luís I bridge, stroll through Vila Nova de Gaia, leisurely walk along the Douro River embankment, admire the Gothic masterpiece, Church of São Francisco, visit a family cellar to taste proper Portuguese port wine — and see a couple more worthy sights :)
History of Porto: then/now
If you wish, I will gladly immerse you in the country's history and specifically the city: you will learn about Portugal from Roman times, be fascinated by stories of the Age of Discoveries, listen to tales of Porto's peaks and falls, and understand the place religion occupies in the country. Or I will focus on the modern life of the Portuguese: how they relax, what they love to eat, what unusual traditions they still carefully preserve, and how they differ from the Russian people. You will hear ancient legends, no less intriguing than Hollywood movies in plot, as well as just curious facts about Porto that will undoubtedly bring you pleasure.
