About this experience
The city that gave its name to the whole country simultaneously exists in several epochs - and we will visit all of them! We will see Porto from above and from the inside, walk through the main sights, and talk about important historical events. You will discover that Porto seems to have come off the canvas of artists: its picturesque streets and houses, bridges, and churches all want to get into the lenses of your cameras.
What to Expect
We will delve into the history of the royal dynasty, starting with the union between Portugal and England and the grand marriage of John I and Philippa of Lancaster, which gave birth to the prince-navigator Henry the Navigator.
I will also tell you about the ordinary residents of Porto and urban traditions, as well as about the peculiarities of everyday life and food preferences: you will learn about real port wine and the traditional dish - 'little Frenchwoman'.
You will see:
- São Bento Railway Station - one of the most beautiful in the world, where picturesque azulejo panels immerse you in the depths of the city's and Portugal's history.
- Clerigos Tower in Baroque style - a famous landmark for ships and the tallest building in the heart of Porto.
- Churches of Carmo and Carmelitas, and then - an observation deck, which offers an incredible view of the city.
- Livraria Lello Bookstore, near which a queue of travelers from all corners of the world gathers year-round.
- Jewish Quarter with fairy-tale houses and a tangle of winding streets leading us to the Douro river embankment.
- The port wine city of Vila Nova de Gaia, where, if desired, you can taste port wine from a traditional family winery.
