About this experience
A sightseeing tour of Munich with me is not just a tourist tour, but a glimpse into the city through the eyes of the locals, specifically Bavarians! During the tour, you will not only hear the history of the city and see its most famous and beautiful places, but also learn about how the locals live, immerse yourself in the resident atmosphere, visit unusual places, and get acquainted with local traditions.
What to Expect
Our tour will begin at the main and former market square of the city, Marienplatz, near the Column of St. Mary in the center of the square, where I will tell you about the founding history of Munich.
You will see the oldest church in the city, St. Peter's Church, affectionately known as 'Old Peter' among locals, stroll through the historic butcher shops at Viktualienmarkt. Afterwards, we will head to the old court, the first residence of the Wittelsbach dynasty. There you will learn why this Court got the name 'monkeys.' At Platzl Square, you will peek into the most famous Hofbräuhaus beer hall and understand who among the locals loves to come here and drink from their own mug, as well as what cannot be bought, sold, or rented in Hofbräuhaus.
You will admire the city's main church, Frauenkirche, walk along the most expensive street in the city, Maximilianstrasse, where you'll discover what makes the Munich Opera House famous and where the treasures of the Bavarian kings are kept. Then, you will turn onto Odeonsplatz, where you will see the magnificent baroque-style church built in honor of the appearance of the heirs of the rulers of Bavaria.
To conclude our walk, we will venture outside the Old Town, where you will catch a glimpse of the stunning Englischer Garten—Europe's largest park located in the city center.
