About this experience
I will tell you why the New Town of Prague, in fact, is very old and how it manages to stay modern and comfortable for 700 years. I will show one of the largest squares in Europe, the academic quarter, and the gothic fortress wall. And also help to reveal the character of the Czech capital and understand the mentality of its residents.
What to expect
Inside the New Town
You will hear when, by whom, and with what purpose the New Town was founded, and whether Charles IV, the beloved king of all Czechs, and the emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, were involved in its creation. Furthermore, you will see the largest square in medieval Europe and the university where Einstein himself worked. You will also find out which temples form the blessing Prague cross.
Mysterious Vysehrad
Vysehrad is a place where Slavic legends coexist with fortifications from the 17th century. Here you will see a cute and slightly funny monument to the country's main Christian patron - Saint Wenceslas - and the Church of Saints Peter and Paul, founded by the first Czech king. You will hear about the strange inhabitants of Faust's House, visit the monastery at Slavans, built on the site of the worship of a pagan goddess of death, and see the churches of Saint Catherine and Saint Apollinaris.
