About this experience
You will not only see the "postcards" of Old Prague, but also hear fascinating stories and legends about it. I will tell you about the times when the capital of the Czech Republic, in terms of its size, influence, and power, was second only to Rome and Constantinople. In addition, you will learn how corruption was punished in the Middle Ages, and you will learn to tell time using the Astronomical Clock in Old Town Square!
What to Expect
Royal Route and Main City Squares
Our walk will begin at Wenceslas Square, where I will show you the National Museum building and houses in modern and neorenaissance style with beautiful paintings on the facades. In Republic Square, you will see the Municipal House, the Czech National Bank, and the Powder Tower - the only preserved tower of the fortification of the Old Town. Next, you will pass along the "Way of the Kings" through Old Town Square to Charles Bridge. I will explain why all future Czech rulers walked through these streets for their coronation since the 14th century.
Prague from Inside
You will find out under which rulers Prague was the capital of the Holy Roman Empire, a center of culture and science, astronomers, magicians, and alchemists. You will also understand the significance of the word "Clementinum", examine the Cathedral of St. Salvator and the Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi at Crusaders' Square, and see the "At the Minute" House on Lesser Town Square. You will find a 16th-century well and make a wish on Charles Bridge.
