About this experience
If you have already visited Prague Castle and Old Town Square, it's time to head to the oldest citadel of the city, where its history began. I will guide you through the parks, viewpoints, and attractions of Vysehrad, reveal the legends of the Gothic basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, and share Czech legends - as mysterious as Prague itself.
What to Expect
The Beginning of Prague
We will drive to the oldest outskirts of Prague, where you will see the fortress of Vysehrad - a place of power from which Czech history originates. Here you will see the Gothic spires of the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul and the streets immersed in greenery. We will stroll through quiet green parks, encountering sculptures of heroes from Czech myths and legends. In the basilica, we will admire stained glass windows, frescoes, figurative paintings, and reliefs depicting scenes of the Last Judgment. We will descend into the mysterious underground chambers of the first Slavs. And from the high hill above the Vltava, you will see perhaps the most spectacular panorama of Prague!
Secrets of Vysehrad
Within the walls of the fortress, the legends of Czechia will come to life before you: you will learn about the founding of Prague and the prophecy of Princess Libussa, hear the story of her choice of a husband and understand what the peasants have to do with it. I will share mysterious legends about the construction of the Cathedral of Peter and Paul, tell you about the curse of the 'devilish columns' and the poor widow. We will also discuss the famous Czechs buried in the local cemetery: from the genius Alphonse Mucha to the researcher who first identified the 4th blood group.
