About this experience
We specifically chose an evening time for the tour. Montmartre is particularly beautiful in the rays of the setting sun. You will explore it from different angles. Walk through filming locations from movies like 'Amelie', 'Paris, je t'aime', and many others. Find out why the women's monastery was dissolved after the Siege of Paris, and see the place where Joan of Arc prayed.
Why Montmartre?
Three words that best characterize Montmartre: 'spirit of history, fun, and artists'. This unique atmosphere will immerse you alongside us.
What to expect
Hillside stroll
We will start at the foot of the hill near the legendary cabaret 'Moulin Rouge'. We'll ascend to the top of Montmartre through winding streets, past atmospheric squares, historical sites, and cozy cafes. We'll finish at the Sacré-Cœur Basilica, which offers a breathtaking view of the city. Along the way, you will see:
- The square of caricaturists and watercolor artists, Place du Tertre
- The vineyard on the slopes of Rue de Saules
- The Moulin de la Galette windmill, painted en plein air by Renoir
- The pink house—a creation of artist Maurice Utrillo
Diverse Montmartre
You will understand how one hill can attract different people and events.
- Historical Montmartre. Learn which cathedral's construction nearly caused a rift between state and church. Find out why the women's monastery on Montmartre was dissolved, and visit the place where Joan of Arc prayed.
- Bohemian Montmartre. We'll tell you about the everyday routines of the bohemians in the 19th century. Discuss why Toulouse-Lautrec, Pablo Picasso, Edith Piaf, and many others dedicated their works to Montmartre. You will also take a photo by the famous rooming house 'Bateau-Lavoir', where great artists worked at the end of the 19th century.
- Cinematic Montmartre. We'll walk in the footsteps of the characters from iconic French films: 'Amélie', 'Midnight in Paris', 'Paris, je t'aime!', and others.
