About this experience
I invite you to explore the world-famous hill of Montmartre, which became a favorite meeting place for the Parisian bohemians at the end of the 19th century. You will see its main symbols: vineyards, old cabarets, windmills, and cafes. And I will tell you the history of Montmartre and share the fates of the artists who lived there: their emotions, creative discoveries, impressions, and personal tragedies.
What to Expect
Blanche Square. I will decode its name and explain why a part of Montmartre is present in all of Paris.
Moulin Rouge Cabaret. You will see the famous red mill with rotating blades. Learn about its history of creation and the first lineup of cabaret artists. You will also hear about the artist who created the first poster for it.
The 'Laundry Ship'. No, we won't be meeting laundry women or washing clothes. It is simply the name of the legendary artists' dormitory. Picasso, Modigliani, and other great masters lived there.
La Galette Windmill. Here I will tell you about Renoir's most famous and beloved painting 'Dance at Le Moulin de la Galette'.
Montmartre Vineyard. You will learn how artists led by the illustrator Puvis saved the historical place and who planted the first vine.
'Quick Rabbit' Cabaret. A place where poor artists were always greeted with a pot of soup. You will uncover its name, get acquainted with the nuances of the French language, and smile as you hear the scandalous story of the painting 'Sunset over the Adriatic'.
