About this experience
During the excursion, you will visit two main shrines of the country - the famous Ostrog Monastery and the Cetinje Monastery - and get acquainted with the most populous city in Montenegro - Podgorica.
Montenegro is not just sea, mountains, beaches... It is a spiritual country, home to ancient monasteries that attract pilgrims from all over the world.
What to expect
The excursion to Ostrog Monastery, Cetinje, and a walk around Podgorica will take the whole day. First, we will head to the historical capital, where we will explore the main attractions of Cetinje. This small and cozy city will immediately charm you. You will stroll through the central streets, see the palace of King Nikola I, which was transformed into the National Museum of Montenegro, and optionally visit the residence of Prince Peter II Petrovich-Njegos.
Next, one of the main goals of the trip awaits you - the Cetinje Monastery in Montenegro, which is over 200 years old. The monastery's servants carefully preserve the Right Hand of John the Baptist, with which Jesus Christ himself was baptized. Also, on display are the Lifegiving Cross of the Lord and the relics of Peter I Petrovich-Njegos.
The journey continues with a tour of the Ostrog Monastery in Montenegro, where many pilgrims gather to worship the relics of the miracle-worker Basil of Ostrog. The temple is carved into a sheer cliff at a height of 900 m. In front of the temple, a grapevine grows out of the stone, it appeared there at the site of the death of Basil of Ostrog. It is worth noting that the Ostrog Monastery in Montenegro attracts an endless stream of the afflicted and ordinary tourists, as many believe in the healing powers of its founder.
I suggest finishing this excursion with an introductory walk around the capital of Montenegro - the city of Podgorica. You will see the Millennium Bridge, opened in 2005 and connecting the banks of the Moraca River. The 140-meter Millennium Bridge is clearly visible from another bridge - 'Moscow-Podgorica'. Nearby stands a monument to Vysotsky, erected in 2004 in Podgorica.
If desired, Podgorica can be replaced with the Niagara Waterfall and its namesake restaurant, taste delicious Montenegrin cuisine, and admire the picturesque places in the surroundings.
