Montenegro is a treasure trove of amazing temples and stunning landscapes. You will explore the famous monastery in the ancient capital of Cetinje, delve into the caves of the Dajbabe monastery, appreciate the skillfully integrated into the rock Ostrog monastery, and the modern Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Podgorica. And I will tell you the history of these places and reveal the significance of Orthodoxy in the country.
What to expect
Four temples
You will visit the most important churches in the country. The tour program includes:
- Cetinje Monastery - the spiritual center of Montenegro. You will learn about its destruction and restoration, the role it played in the country's history, its modern significance. You will also see its main relics: the right hand of St. John the Baptist, the relics of St. Peter of Cetinje, and a piece of the cross on which Christ was crucified.
- Ostrog Monastery - the third most visited Orthodox temple in the world. It is here that the miraculous relics of St. Basil of Ostrog are kept. I will tell you about his life and the miracles associated with him.
- Dajbabe Monastery - you will hear the unusual story of its creation and be amazed by its structure. Resembling an ordinary church from the outside, it hides a whole underground complex. You will walk through its caves and examine the preserved wall frescoes.
- Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ - a modern Cathedral located in the capital of Podgorica. I will tell you who sponsored its construction, how many years it took to build, and what architectural styles it combines.
