What to Expect
Safe Adventure
Even if you have never ridden a Segway before, you will quickly master the controls. It usually takes no more than 10 minutes to learn to balance and feel confident. An instructor will explain the safety techniques, and once you are ready, we will begin our journey.
Andalusian Gothic
Our first stop is the Gothic Malaga Cathedral. I will tell you why only one tower was built instead of the planned two and how this led to the locals giving the temple a nickname. We will circle the Renaissance monument from all sides and see a part of the building where something else clearly used to be located. Can you guess what it was?
Enigmas of Antiquity
We will speed through the magnificent city park, where unique plants from South America are gathered, and local celebrities - green parrots - live in abundance. You will see fountains and sculptures and learn about the design and development of the entire coastal area that used to be sea. When we reach the port of Malaga, you will find yourself at the Roman Theater. I will share a funny story about its discovery, explain how the theater is connected to Antonio Banderas, and what the nearby Roman baths were used for.
Bastions and Palaces
You will see the fortress Alcazaba (from the Arabic "القصبة," meaning "citadel") and breezily ascend to the top of the hill to Gibralfaro Castle (from the Arabic "yabal," meaning "mountain" and the Greek "faros" - "lighthouse"). The road ahead is easy and very picturesque: from the height, a stunning view of the sea and the city center opens up. I will reveal the history of the fortress construction, numerous attempts to conquer it, show old photographs, and talk about the architectural features of the castle. Also, the bullfighting arena will be clearly visible from the mountain. You will learn how often competitions are held and which part of the bull is the most delicious.
On the way back, we will stop by the beach. We will admire the ships in the port and the ancient "women's lighthouse." You will hear legends explaining its name, and if you wish, you can test the Segway's maximum speed on a straight paved road leading to the cruise ship parking lot. At the end, we can sum up the day in a local cozy bar with a complimentary drink of your choice.
