About this experience
Although the historic city center is closed to cars, we will visit many beautiful places not mentioned in guidebooks. Moving from one landmark to another, you will explore the key locations of the city and see it from unusual perspectives. Just three hours - and one of the oldest cities in Europe will forever remain in your heart.
What to expect
Born by the sea
Our first stop is the Maritime Square, near which a picturesque promenade stretches. Near the pier, where fresh fish sellers used to stand, now stands a statue of the local favorite Senachero. I will tell you about the region's traditions and how the fish seller became a symbol of the city. We will walk from the square along the shady alley of the botanical garden. Each tree here is equipped with a plaque with its name and other details, there are plenty of sculptures and fountains, azulejo, and other ceramics on the territory.
Antique architecture
You will pass by the building of the former post office in the neo-Mudejar style, ruins of the Phoenician fortress wall, and a Roman factorium. You will see the neoclassical Central Bank and the City Hall building, take a photo with the jasmine seller monument in the square with orange trees and cypresses. At the end of the park alley, we will discover the elegant Fountain of the Three Graces and the ancient hospital named after a British doctor who died in Malaga during a cholera epidemic.
Center of attraction
Andalusia is considered the birthplace of bullfighting, and of course, we will drive to Plaza de Toros, where one of the oldest arenas in the region is located, resembling a colosseum. Nearby rises Mount Gibralfaro with the eponymous Arab fortress. We will climb to the viewing platform and admire the panorama of seaside Malaga, and then head to the birthplace of Picasso - to one of the most beautiful squares where the artist took his first steps, and the Museum "Casa Natal". Concluding the walk, you will explore the Sanctuary of the Victory Virgin, which houses the city's main sanctuary.
