About this experience
I will help you truly get to know Malaga - a city with a unique character and its own sense of humor. You will walk through the main attractions of the city, learn about local traditions and the Spanish way of life. You will listen to urban legends, visit the famous central market, and taste traditional dessert wine from Malaga in the oldest wine cellar in the city.
What to expect
Urban legends and modern culture of Malaga
We will walk through the most atmospheric corners of the city, try local 'churros' with chocolate (the favorite breakfast of the locals), visit the central market, where the taste and color of the city are fully represented. I will tell you which Andersen's fairy tale Spaniards love the most, what locals do when the New Year bells toll, and how the ancient Phoenicians influenced fashion. You will learn about the customs and traditions of the people of Malaga, walk through the shops on Larios Street, and the most daring travelers will be able to knock on the door of Antonio Banderas' apartment.
Main attractions
You will see the hidden Church of Saint John among the narrow streets and walk through Constitution Square - the heart of Malaga, where different eras intertwine. I will tell you about the construction of the Cathedral, which combines Gothic, Baroque, and Renaissance styles. We will explore the recently discovered Roman Theater and the ancient Arab fortress Alcazaba, which offers a wonderful view of the city. We will visit La Merced Square, where Picasso's house and an obelisk dedicated to freedom fighters are located.
Wine tasting
You will visit the oldest wine cellar in the city - Casa Guardia, where you will taste traditional sweet Spanish wine. I will tell you how wine is traditionally drunk in Malaga and why only dessert wine is produced here. You will learn the differences between two traditional types of local wine, the legend associated with one of them, and how Pedro Ximenez wine ended up in Russia.
