About this experience
This 2-hour route will allow you to delve into the history of the Spanish capital. We will use modern and safe transportation - Segways. You will follow the footsteps of Spanish writers in the Literary Quarter, admire the palaces and hidden corners of Retiro Park, and ride along iconic landmarks. I promise you interesting stories about the city's history, the secrets of its neighborhoods, and the traditions and customs of the locals.
What to expect
Trace the path of writers
On the way to Retiro Park, you will cross the Literary Quarter of the 17th century, associated with the Golden Age of Spain. I will tell you about the geniuses of Spanish literature who lived here, and why this area is also considered a gastronomic paradise of the capital. You will see the house-museum of Lope de Vega, learn where Miguel De Cervantes spent his last days, and stop at the oldest Flamenco theater "Villa Rosa" on Saint Anne's Square.
Elegant gardens and palaces
Retiro is the largest park in Europe and a favorite recreation spot for Madrilenians. Among its centuries-old trees, you will discover picturesque gardens hidden from tourists, and the only surviving Glass Palace of the 19th century in Europe. You will admire a huge collection of roses and immerse yourself in the romance of Retiro by the pond. And I will tell you about the park's history dating back to the 17th century and its secrets.
Bourbon dynasty era quarter
Our return path will pass through a more modern part of the capital. At the park's exit, you will be greeted by the Alcala Gate, praised by Madrid residents in songs and poems. Passing by elegant buildings from the 19th-20th centuries, you will find yourself at the legendary Cybele Square, where you will see, undoubtedly, Madrid's main buildings - the City Hall and the Bank of Spain. And at the end of the walk, the Gate of the Sun Square will reveal its secrets.
Upon your request, the route can be changed (if it is possible in terms of safe Segway movement).
