About this experience
The castle you will see is unusual: here you will discover a Chinese salon, a Swiss bridge, a Turkish bath, a minaret, and an English park! Surrounded by legends, Lednice is one of the most romantic places in the Czech Republic, where you can find a Roman aqueduct, an orangery, and centuries-old trees. You will delight in the beauty, learn the history of these places, and we will also tell you where nearby you can enjoy excellent wine and what culinary delights to try.
What to Expect
Situated in hospitable South Moravia, Lednice is one of the most romantic and luxurious castles in the Czech Republic with a long history that extends beyond Czechia. The castle is amidst amazing parks and gardens created by Austrian architects for the Liechtenstein princes. The Lednice-Valtice Cultural Landscape is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
You will stroll through the historic and most romantic places in Lednice and see not only the castle itself but also the Roman aqueduct, an orangery blooming with flowers year-round, and much more. We will also tell you the stories behind the structures here that are atypical for Czech places, such as the Minaret, the Chinese salon, the Turkish bath, and the Swiss bridge. You will surely enjoy the histories and legends of these places.
Walking the well-kept and strict French park alleys, you can feel like the royals who lived here centuries ago did. The vast English park is more naturally organic, although it was human-made. Romantic bridges over the Dyje River, centuries-old trees, storks and their nests, squirrels – all of this can be seen while strolling through the English Lednice park.
If you desire, during the warm months, you can take a romantic boat trip to the Minaret, from which you can even see the spire of St. Stephen's Church in Vienna and the White Carpathians. And if you also want to see the ruins of the Januv Hrad medieval castle, we will tell you how to get there.
Additionally, we will recommend where to enjoy good wine or beer in Lednice, where to eat well and inexpensively, and what specifically to try.
