About this experience
Český Krumlov is medieval streets, castle parks, and grand courtyards where storyteller Andersen, alchemist Kelly, and astronomer Galileo walked. Walking through the city surrounded by ancient buildings, you will lose track of time and reality. Each building here is living history, and to better understand the history of the whole country and fully immerse yourself in the medieval era, you should hear my stories about the city, its inhabitants, and Southern Bohemia.
Program
During the journey, I will talk about the history of Southern Bohemia, interesting cities of this region, the fates of former owners of these lands and their ancestral estates, as well as about the lives of ordinary townspeople during the rule of various dynasties.
- First, we will visit one of the most beautiful castles in Czechia in the majestic town of Hluboká nad Vltavou. You will enjoy its richly decorated halls and equally rich history.
- Then we will head to the fairytale castle of Český Krumlov, which grew directly from the rock and has towered over the historical center of the city for over 700 years. We will stroll through the five castle courtyards and reach the viewing platforms with fantastic views.
- You will learn chilling details about the stay of the mad Julius Caesar of Austria, son of the Austrian Emperor Rudolf II, in the castle. Also about the times when the "Werewolf Eleanor" lived in Krumlov, and cages with she-wolves stood beneath the castle walls.
- The stories of all ancient castles are somehow connected to ghosts. I will tell you about the ghosts of Český Krumlov Castle and other former possessions of the Rosenbergs.
- You will also see live bears guarding the castle approaches and learn about the history of the castle's Bear Moat.
- And in the end, you will taste delicious dishes from the South Bohemian region and local Eggenberg beer.
This tour will help you better understand the history of Czechia and its rulers, immerse yourself in the era of Czech medieval times in the UNESCO-protected town, learn about the history and structure of two famous castles in the country, and realize that Czechia is rich in beautiful historical places that, like Prague, make you want to come back.
