Program
Sychrov Castle
Sychrov is called the flower of France in the Czech Paradise. The interiors of the castle are a masterpiece of wood carvers. The sophistication of the castle is due to the ancient French family de Rogan-Monbazon-Hemen. Its members held the title of princes of royal blood. The medieval barons de Rogan were attributed the motto: "I cannot be a king, I will not condescend to be a duke, I am a Rogan".
During the tour, I will tell you about the most famous representatives of the proud de Rogan family. For example, about Duchess de Chevreuse, the closest confidante of the French queen Anne of Austria and a fierce opponent of Cardinal Richelieu. You will learn the famous story of the queen's necklace, the disappearance of which served as a signal for the start of the Great French Revolution. The famous adventurer Count Cagliostro and Cardinal Louis Rene de Rogan were direct participants in the scandal.
And, of course, I will tell you how the de Rogans ended up in the kingdom of Bohemia. It is said that the castle is still haunted by the spirit of the unfortunate Bertha de Rogan - the famous ghost The Black Lady. And looking into the magical mirror, women can make a wish.
English Park
The bottom of an ancient sea, raised by volcanic activity from the bowels of the Earth, for centuries swept by winds, turned into a unique geological park, under the protection of UNESCO since 2005. After getting acquainted with the castle, we will take a walk in this English park, planted with rare tree species: red-leaved oaks, sequoias, and giant spruces.
Turnov
Next awaits you the city of Turnov, which rightfully bears the title of the precious gates of the Czech Paradise. In Turnov, there is the oldest school for processing Bohemian garnets, equivalent to which there is nowhere else in the world. I will definitely tell you the history of this school and about the unique precious stones. And then you will see how they are mined and processed, you will be able to appreciate the beauty of jewelry and buy a gift for your loved ones. And also you will have the opportunity to find grains of garnets by yourself. Find them - they are yours.
Monastery Brewery
On the way back, at your request, we can have lunch at the monastery brewery "In the Rock". The age of the brewery is quite respectable - more than eight centuries. And the restaurant itself is located in underground corridors cut by Cistercian monks in the 13th century.
