About this experience
You will hear the most interesting facts about the captivating history of the ancient capital of Colchis. Be impressed by the ancient temples, fantastic panoramas, cozy atmosphere, and hospitality of Kutaisi. As a welcoming host, I will show and tell you about the richness of our amazing land!
What to Expect
Kutaisi Yesterday and Today
You will visit the former residence of the Immeretian kings Okros Chardakhi and relax in the shade of a 1000-year-old plane tree, under which Solomon, the last king of Immeretia, conducted his affairs. Test the glass floor of the White Bridge and learn what it has in common with the Eiffel Tower. You will also take a photo with the boy sitting on the railings, admire the picturesque banks of the Rioni River, and stroll through the narrow streets along which the young Volodya Mayakovsky ran to school.
Secrets of the Jewish Quarter
I will show you the extraordinarily beautiful cascading composition of the Colchis Fountain in the heart of Kutaisi and tell you about its gilded figures reflecting the jewelry art of the Bronze Age. Additionally, you will hear the story of the German prince's love for the Georgian princess and see the castle he built. Then you will walk through the streets of the Jewish Quarter, once the most numerous in Georgia, examine the functioning ancient synagogue, and feel the spicy aromas coming from the windows. You will also learn why the temple crowning this ancient quarter is called the 'Green Flower'.
