About this experience
One of the first associations with Georgia is wine. And the main winemaking region of the country is Kakheti. Heading towards the landscapes of the Alazani Valley, you will visit two of the largest wineries and a storage in a rocky tunnel. Beautiful roads and tastings will be complemented by my stories about winemaking in Sakartvelo. Along the way, you will also visit the ancient monastery of Bodbe and be charmed by the town of Sighnaghi. This encounter with Kakheti will help you understand the character of the sunny region and the wine culture of Georgia.
What to expect
Georgia and wine: a history of everlasting love
My goal for this day is to help you get to know Kakheti and Georgia better through stories about traditional winemaking and our wine culture. You will understand how Georgian wine production technology differs from European and why the grapevine is inseparable from faith. You will learn about Georgian wine regions and export features, understand the varieties of wine and the subtleties of the tamada profession. But of course, it won't be just theory! You will enjoy wine during three stops:
- At the KTW Winery (Kakhetian Traditional Winemaking), you will learn about the revival of Georgian wine in the past century, taste wine right from the barrel, and 10-year-old brandy.
