About this experience
Combine a journey into the history of the Middle Ages with pastoral views of Estonia! You will see the smallest (but very impregnable) fortress in Europe, learn all about the lives of knights and the beliefs of their contemporaries, be amazed by where 'Stalker' was filmed, and if you wish, even shoot a bow like a true medieval resident.
What to expect
Mini journey through Estonia
The road to the city of Rakvere will take an hour and a half, during which you will have the opportunity to get to know the country better: drive along a highway that passes through a real canyon and the Lasnamäe district, learn about different Estonian ethnicities and pagan beliefs, visit the widest local waterfall. I will share my knowledge of the geography and history of Estonia with you, show you the dam of a hydroelectric power station where a scene from the movie 'Stalker' was filmed. On the way back to Tallinn, we will stop at the smallest fortress in Europe - Kiisu, which has never been conquered by enemies, where you will explore its main tower and try Estonian liqueur with homemade pie in a local cafe.
Step into the Middle Ages
Rakvere is a city famous for the Order Castle of the 14th century and the sausage produced here. The history of the name of this place is associated with many wars, which I will tell you about while you walk around the fortress. We will discuss all the secrets of medieval life, knightly costumes, talk about the beliefs and traditions of people of that time. You will look at the city from the height of the main tower, see a 7-ton monument to a bull - the symbol of Rakvere, and also learn who Arvo Pärt is and why a sculpture in his honor is installed in the Central Square of the city.
