About this experience
Walking along the cozy cobbled streets, you will see the main sights of historic Tallinn, hear its legends, and momentarily feel like you're in the Middle Ages. I will tell you how the locals fought foreign invaders and help you understand the modern realities of the Estonian capital.
What to expect
Tallinn - a journey through time
For many centuries, Old Tallinn consisted of two separate towns. You will see the Upper Town on Toompea Hill belonged to the nobility and the Lower Town where craftsmen and merchants lived. You will walk along the shortest and narrowest streets of Tallinn and learn about the events and people that shaped the city's destiny. You will also discover the masterpieces of Gothic architecture and traces of the Middle Ages: the fortress wall and towers, the Small Fortress, and the Cathedral of Saint Mary the Virgin. To complete your impression of Tallinn, you will climb to the observation platforms and admire the church spires and fairytale rooftops from above.
Local secrets and useful tips
I will tell you about the oldest church in Estonia, founded in 1219, and the Orthodox Cathedral. I will show you the first city pharmacy and reveal how citizens were treated for diseases centuries ago. Additionally, you will learn about the movies filmed here, the interesting feature of the Old Town crown, and who has been standing guard in Tallinn since 1530. I will also provide recommendations on where to have a snack and enjoy a cup of coffee with delicious marzipan after the tour.
