What to Expect
Thermal Waters of an Underground Bath
Driving 130 km on the highway from Budapest towards the renowned city of Eger, you will arrive in the village of Demjén, where a fairytale world of caves awaits. A year-round therapeutic and recreational water complex awaits guests with pools of varying depths and temperatures ranging from 30 to 38°C. In 3 hours, you can experience a water labyrinth, children's pool, water slides, sauna, hammam, salt cave, and even a bar on water.
Bull's Blood in the Valley of the Beautiful Women
Just 10 minutes from the bath, you will enter the world-famous Valley of the Beautiful Women - the center of the third largest of Hungary's 22 winemaking regions. In one of the numerous wine cellars, you will participate in a tasting of local wines, including the iconic Egri Bikavér (Eger Bull's Blood) - the second most famous Hungarian red wine after Tokaji Aszú. An experienced sommelier will enlighten you about the peculiarities and fame of this Hungarian icon - húngarikum, as Hungarian products reflecting the country's traditions and culture are called. Lunch will be served in a national tavern with the eloquent name 'Flask'.
Eger, Close to Every Hungarian's Heart
On the way back, we will visit the historic town of Eger, which resisted the Turkish army in 1552. I will tell you about the heroes' feats and the history of Eger's main attractions. You will stroll along ancient pedestrian streets, peek into quiet courtyards, admire the well-preserved Baroque architecture and neoclassical basilica. Before returning to Budapest, you can enjoy a cup of coffee or solidify your knowledge about Eger wines.
