During this car tour through picturesque places of Serbia, you will get acquainted with iconic architectural monuments and amazing natural wonders, along with their history and the history of Serbian culture.
Program
Depart from Belgrade early in the morning to Monastery Manasija, also known as Resava Monastery. Founded and built in 1407-1418 by Despot Stefan Lazarević. In the 15th and 16th centuries, the monastery was the center of Serbian culture, where books were translated and copied even during the period of Ottoman rule (the famous Resava School). To protect the monastery, it is fortified with a high wall with 11 towers. Only a third of the frescoes of the monastery have survived to this day, yet the painting of Manasija is considered one of the greatest achievements of medieval art.
Depart to Resava Cave — the largest and most beautiful cave in Serbia, with a length of 4,500 m. The tourist route is 800 m long. The temperature inside the cave is 7°C. The interior decoration amazes with variety and beauty: various channels and galleries, halls, petrified waterfalls, and draperies seem to move as if blown by the wind...
Continuing the excursion, we will visit the Veliki Buk Waterfall at 380 meters above sea level, on the slopes of Mount Belyanica, on the Vrelo River. The height of the waterfall is 25 meters, and at the foot, a lake of extraordinary beauty is formed. In 1995, the waterfall was declared a natural reserve of exceptional value.
We will have lunch in a restaurant overlooking the waterfall. Here they serve amazing wild trout.
We will return to Belgrade late in the evening. The route length is 360 km.
