What to Expect
Highlights of Istanbul
The symbol of the 'Golden Age' of Byzantium – Hagia Sophia – will captivate you with its magnificent architecture, exquisite mosaics, and rich history. Christian elements coexist with Arabic calligraphy, complementing each other harmoniously. You will also explore the era of Ottoman Constantinople with the majestic Blue Mosque, built by order of the Turkish sultan Ahmed I. Additionally, you will visit the ancient underground Basilica Cistern, the first courtyard of the Topkapi Palace, and the main square of the city Sultanahmet.
Istanbul Through the Eyes of a Local
I will not only share the most interesting historical facts about the places you will see but also help you understand the modern life of Istanbul. You will learn about the traditions observed by the locals, how they spend their free time, where they like to stroll, what they value in people, where they eat and drink. You will also understand how Istanbul is organized, which districts it consists of, how to use public transport, and where to go for shopping.
