Individual tour "Beloved and Native Tbilisi"
About this experience
Tbilisi is not just a city with ancient history, unique cultural heritage, and landmarks. It is a city with character. What do they gossip about in the Italian courtyards? Where was the history of the city and the country created? How did the locals manage to rebuild Tbilisi from ashes and ruins 40 times in the city's history? You will learn about this and more on our walk through the Georgian capital.
What to Expect
A Bit of History and Geography
We will start our acquaintance with Tbilisi from the Metekhi Plateau, where you will enjoy a lovely view of the Narikala Fortress, sulfur baths, and Old Tbilisi. I will tell you the legend of the city's founding and why Tbilisi is called the city of warm springs, what the inscriptions on the Metekhi church tell us, and why many feared this place for a long time. Despite centuries of domination over Georgia by other states, Tbilisi managed to preserve its unique character and culture.
Places You Cannot Miss in the City
We will visit the sulfur baths, and you will learn about the role the baths played for the city. We will take the cable car up to the Mother of Georgia statue and the Narikala Fortress. From this height, you will enjoy a view of the houses perched on the edge of the cliff overlooking the Kura River. Descending, we will walk through the streets, squares, and gardens of Old Tbilisi, visit cozy cafes and wine shops, stroll across the Bridge of Peace. Leaving the fortress walls of Old Tbilisi, we will head to Freedom Square and walk along Rustaveli Avenue, where many state buildings, palaces, opera house, theater, gymnasium, and museums are located. You will also see an old house with beautiful carved reliefs, built in Art Nouveau style - the only two-story residential building on the avenue that survived the reconstruction of the 20th century!
Tbilisi Stories
Tbilisi is a city of cultural blending, where everyone can find food for thought; people of different religions live side by side in peace. You will learn about the lives of citizens, about love and deeds, humor, feasts, and toasts made with poems, about the life and values of the residents. You will learn about the Caravanserais and the Silk Road passing through Tbilisi. You will peek into the Italian courtyards, which have nothing to do with Italy - you will learn the reason for such a name and their history. In addition, you will hear the stories of Rustaveli Avenue and learn why no one ever raised their voice while walking on Rustaveli in the past.

I really enjoyed the tour, despite the windy weather. Maya is a very knowledgeable and interesting storyteller. She answered all the questions. We received recommendations for further activities in Tbilisi. She has a very pleasant speech and voice. The whole tour went by in one breath.
