About this experience
In 3 hours, you will shatter the myth that Hungarian cuisine starts and ends with goulash. We will stroll through the streets, markets, and squares of Pest, trying out the flagship Hungarian street foods: langos, hurka, and chimney cake. Along the way, we will taste local spices, talk about Hungarian 'hungaricums,' and discuss the fascinating stories of Budapest.
What to Expect
Langos, hurka, chimney cake
Hungary boasts an excellent selection of street food - and you will get to taste the most delicious! Some of these treats can be found at Christmas markets across Europe, but in Budapest, they are sold year-round. So, on our street-food menu:
- Langos - yeast dough with cheese
- Chimney cake - sweet pastry
- Hurka - one of the many types of fried sausages
We will also take a voyage to one of the city's markets: savor some sausages and have a quick introduction to Hungarian spices and 'hungaricums.'
An Exciting Stroll through Pest
A gastronomic immersion wouldn't be complete without interesting facts about the city, as our route will take us through the heart of Pest! We will peek into the first Budapest metro, admire the ceramic and porcelain fountains at Nador Square, visit the magnificent St. Stephen's Basilica, marvel at the Parliament and the Hungarian National Bank building. And, of course, we will walk along Vaci Street with its majestic facades, cozy cafes, galleries, and boutiques.
At the end of the walk, you will receive a famous Hungarian liqueur Unicum as a gift, which is made from dozens of herbs and aged in oak barrels.
