About this experience
This gastronomic bike ride will introduce you to a different Budapest - ancient and modern, fashionable, tasty, and completely unfamiliar to tourists. On bikes, we will zoom through the streets of Obuda, find Roman aqueducts and amphitheaters, and then relax on the Danube embankment, trying langos, halaszle, goulash, and other Hungarian culinary masterpieces.
What to Expect
Following the Ancient Romans in Obuda
In the center of our route is the ancient city of Obuda, which, together with Buda and Pest, is unified in modern Budapest. Riding along local bike paths, you will learn who owned these lands before the arrival of the Hungarian tribes and discover traces of a big city of the Roman Empire, which had two amphitheaters, aqueducts, thermal baths, and wealthy Roman villas. I will help you find hidden artifacts and tell you why the city of Aquincum was built and why it disappeared.
Modern Budapest and its culinary masterpieces
After the historical immersion, we will return to modern Hungary, discussing its life and trends. Then I will be happy to answer your questions over a cup of coffee at the iconic cafe 'Melbourne.' We will visit Steve Jobs in Grafisoft Park, see the largest 'Rubik's Cube,' and ride along the 10-kilometer Roman Danube embankment - the best relaxation spot in Budapest, where the gastronomic part of our walk will begin. Here you can enjoy the river chill, inhale the aromas of fried fish and langos, lounge on the beach in sun loungers, and taste favorite drinks and dishes of the Hungarians in one of the local restaurants. Get ready to learn the essentials about Budapest cuisine and try fish soup halaszle, goulash, and, of course, hake!
