About this experience
Street food in Istanbul is so diverse and appetizing that it's impossible to resist! With my help, you will navigate the world of Turkish street food, discover delicious places 'for locals' hidden from tourists' eyes in modern city quarters, and treat yourself to the best gastronomic delights of Istanbul streets. Chi-Köfte, stuffed mussels, fish kebab, and much more - you definitely won't be hungry!
What to Expect
Try the best street food in Istanbul
We will walk through the modern districts of Istanbul Karaköy and Beşiktaş - areas of modern culture, interesting cafes, graffiti, and hipsters. We will stroll through colorful streets, visit a whole boulevard for breakfasts and local stalls, talk about local gastronomic habits and worldview. In addition to all the well-known roasted chestnuts, crispy sesame bagels, and boiled corn, hidden from strangers' eyes are the true gastronomic gems that locals keep for themselves, and the Michelin stars just haven't found them yet:
🍅 You will 'meet' the favorite of Turkish youth and beyond - taste the wet burger and learn where Turks got the idea of making it.
🍢 Fried mackerel on the grill wrapped in lavash may not surprise you. But in the alleys of Istanbul, this dish will be cooked for you by a master who has dedicated 20 years of his life to fish kebab and claims to have started making it first!
🍵 Now we head to a soup shop located in a former monastery building, and then try the favorite street food of all locals, from students to ministers: family recipe beef prepared by a veteran in his craft, as the establishment has been around for 50 years.
🍤 If you still have energy and room in your stomach, it's time to take part in a contest of eating stuffed mussels. And if you can surpass the trained Turks in this art, you will never forget this day!
🌯 Of course, you will also taste the most delicious and popular doner kebab, for which locals are willing to queue up.
🍩 And for the boldest travelers, we will offer a dessert dish that Turkey was not accepted into the European Union for its love (impressive sight).
