About this experience
I will introduce you to the fascinating history of the city on a guided tour that has experienced incredible transformations: from a swampy village to the capital of the Kingdom of Prussia, from the boom of the roaring twenties to the dark Third Reich, from a destroyed, devastated, divided city to the capital of a reunified country. Besides, I will also tell you about current political events, the ideology of propaganda of those times and today, about the life of the citizens and their views on the current situation, Russia, and refugees.
What to Expect
I have been living here for 11 years and I am well-informed about the political and economic situation in the country. In addition to the city's history, I will talk about the political views of native Berliners (pensioners, adults, and youth). You will learn what Germans think and what they are afraid to openly discuss. About their mentality. About the resurgence of right-wing parties in the country and their rapid growth. You will also have the opportunity to compare modern Berlin with the past.
The tour includes visits to:
- Pariser Platz
- Brandenburg Gate
- Reichstag building
- Holocaust Memorial
- Former Hitler's Bunker 'Fuhrerbunker'
- Former Luftwaffe Headquarters
- June 17th Memorial
- Berlin Wall
- Former SS and Gestapo Headquarters
- Checkpoint Charlie
- Friedrichstrasse
- Gendarmenmarkt
- Memorial to the Burning Books
- Memorial to the Victims of War and Tyranny in Germany (Neue Wache)
- Museum Island
