About this experience
This tour combines the past and present of Berlin. During the walk, you will encounter iconic landmarks, museums, contemporary art galleries, and shops, boutiques, and thrift stores. You will hear interesting details from their history and immerse yourself in the daily life of the city's residents.
What to Expect
Contrasts of the Center
We will explore the central district of Berlin - Mitte. You will feel the city's atmosphere at Gendarmenmarkt Square, see a room with empty bookshelves, and understand why Germany celebrates Book Day. Strolling along the River Spree, you will enjoy a view of Museum Island, the construction of which lasted a hundred years! Here stands the Berlin Cathedral - the largest Protestant church in Germany. We will tell you why and for how long it had to stand "beheaded."
We will visit the street of contemporary art galleries: here you will learn how a margarine factory became one of the most important contemporary art galleries in Berlin. We will have coffee at the gallery, visit a trendy bookstore, and be transported a hundred years back at Clärchens Ballhaus dance hall.
Jewish Chronicles of Berlin
In the Jewish Quarter, we will uncover the history of these places and some monuments. We will admire the New Synagogue building - one of the most beautiful in Europe. We will visit the Hackesche Höfe and talk about how the area of slums became prestigious and well-maintained. You will also visit the shopping district and Hackescher Markt square surrounded by stylish shops and cafes.
City Life Highlights
We will also delve into life in Berlin: the cost of rent, where Berliners have breakfast and relax, and where they go for nightlife. You will learn about the events happening in the city and what else is worth visiting here. Additionally, we will recommend restaurants, cafes, and the best flea markets.
P.S.: We will not walk along Unter den Linden boulevard, see the Brandenburg Gate and Tiergarten Park, Checkpoint Charlie, and Friedrichstrasse. We recommend you explore these places on your own, and also take a free ride to the Reichstag dome.
