Group Excursion: From Tbilisi to the Village of Kanobi and further to Kazbek
About this experience
This journey will gift you breathtaking mountain landscapes, introduce you to the ancient history of Georgia and its legends. Our route will take us through the Zhinvali Reservoir, the Ananuri Fortress, and the Friendship Arch. Through the Cross Pass, we will reach the handsome Kazbek: you will visit the foot of the mountain beloved by climbers and see the Gergeti Church located at an altitude of 2170 m.
What to expect
Zhinvali Reservoir. Our first stop will be at the observation deck above the reservoir. From here, you will enjoy a magnificent view! You will hear the story of the village that once stood here and learn what happened to it.
Architectural Complex Ananuri. Next, we will head to the fortress walls of Ananuri, former residence of the Aragvi Princes. We will walk around the area, climb the towers, and touch the centuries-old history of these places.
White and Black Aragvi in Pasanauri. Here, two mountain rivers merge together. Each of them has its own color - and they do not mix! You will admire this unique sight, and the guide will tell you a Georgian legend about two sisters who perished because of a prince.
Rafting in Pasanauri (optional in the summer season). You will have the opportunity to raft through the beautiful gorge of the Aragvi River. Before starting, you will receive instructions and necessary equipment. The rafting time is about 30 minutes. But if you prefer, you could spend this time exploring the surroundings - it is a cozy and well-maintained area - have coffee at a cafe, or take photos.
Mineral Spring on the Military-Georgian Road. After crossing the Cross Pass, we will stop for a tasting of mineral water. Optionally, you can try chacha and honey.
Village Kanobi. At the foot of the Caucasus mountain range, in Lower Kazbegi, is the village of Kanobi. On the way to Mount Kazbek, we will stop here, walk around, enjoy picturesque panoramas, and take beautiful photos.
Village Stepantsminda and Gergeti Trinity Church. This is our final destination. High in the mountains of the Caucasus mountain range, where eagles soar and you can touch the clouds, is located the Gergeti Church of the Holy Trinity. You will step inside, and then come out to the courtyard to enjoy breathtaking views of the snowy peaks of the majestic Caucasus mountains.

- The excursion includes: transfer on a comfortable Mercedes-Benz Sprinter minibus, guide services, drinking water, tasting of mountain honey
- After the excursion, we will give you a bottle of Kakhetian wine made using the Georgian method (qvevri)
- The excursion will be conducted by me or another guide from our team
