About this experience
Discussions have long been held about the need to canonize Antonio Gaudi - that is, to consider him a saint of the Catholic Church. I will show you both the world-famous buildings and the masterpieces of the great Catalan that are almost unknown to the general public. I will introduce you to the personality of Gaudi, making it clearer to you why he is a genius, a madman, and perhaps a saint.
What to expect
Casa Batllo, or "House of Bones". Those who have been to Barcelona and seen Casa Batllo will never forget it. The wavy facade without straight lines; a roof resembling the shiny scales of a dragon, columns and balconies shaped like bones... Casa Batllo is to some extent the quintessence of Gaudi's phantasmagorical style.
Casa Mila - a vivid example of modernism. You will learn about the innovative solutions that Gaudi used when designing this 8-story building with 33 balconies.
Palau Guell - the first major project commissioned by Gaudi's main sponsor and patron. I will reveal how this palace ended up in a very poor district.
Lanterns of the Royal Square. This square impresses even the most seasoned travelers. It is aesthetically pleasing, with all buildings and structures fitting harmoniously into the Old Town's stylistic. And the lanterns, designed by Gaudi, are rightfully considered the main decoration of the square.
Casa Calvet. This building is known only to a few - yet it became Gaudi's only work to be awarded the first prize at the annual Barcelona architectural competition for buildings of artistic value.
Expiatory Temple of the Holy Family, or Sagrada Familia. Of course, we will not miss the main attraction of Barcelona, and at the same time the most famous never-ending construction project in the world. Construction began in 1882 and is still unfinished. You will find out why the construction of the city's symbol is progressing so slowly.
Organizational details
We will not enter the cathedrals and museums. After the tour, you will be able to return to visit them and explore everything on your own.
