About this experience
How to briefly describe our small but beautiful country? My guests answered: sun, hospitality, delicious food, brandy, rich heritage of centuries, Mount Ararat. Each of these elements will be in our journey! With love and knowledge, I will show you the pagan temple of Garni, the cave monastery of Geghard, and the amazing valley. And the day will be complemented by a horseback ride and a delicious lunch.
What awaits you
In our route, there are landmarks that are surely on your list of 'things to see in Armenia'. With me, you will not only see them, but also read the history of the country on their walls, learn about the local geographical features, and touch the centuries-old traditions. So, for you:
- Garni Temple - the only surviving pre-Christian structure not only in Armenia, but also on the entire territory of the former Soviet Union. How was this pagan temple created and what significance did it have? What events did it go through over 20 centuries and why did it continue to exist even after the adoption of Christianity? You will find out the answers.
- Geghard Monastery, carved into the rock. I will tell you why it is called so, what role it played in the biography of my country, and why it is unique. In addition, the monastery complex is picturesquely located amidst terracotta cliffs, so here you can take postcard-like photos.
- Stone Symphony of the Valley. It's time to pay attention to a natural wonder from the UNESCO list - a geological formation, basalt columns. To some, they resemble pencils, to others a giant organ, but they impress everyone. We will discuss the theories of how nature wrote this symphony.
- Horseback riding in the eco-park. After finishing the historical part, we will head to the village of Dzorahbyur, to the farm. You will meet friendly horses and optionally go for a horseback ride (duration from 30 minutes). Here you can also enjoy Armenian cuisine!
