About this experience
Our hospitable Armenia will open up to you in the deep past of Geghard Monastery, in the ancient architecture of Garni, in the sanctuaries of Echmiadzin, in the columns of Zvartnots, and in a glass of brandy. I will tell you about the history, architecture, and traditions in a way that you will understand and fall in love with this ancient country.
What to Expect
Informative and beautiful journey to the west of Yerevan
In one day, I will show you four places - each of them is a must-see if you want to understand the history and culture of Armenia, the mentality of its people. Our route will cover:
- "Symphony of Stones" - a truly unique monument created by nature. Unfortunately, due to the bad road, guides rarely include it in their tours. You will see rock formations resembling tall basalt columns - some may see organ pipes, others giant pencils, but they impress everyone.
- Garni Temple, where you will get acquainted with pre-Christian Armenia. Standing on a plateau surrounded by mountains, Garni will remind you of Greece. I will tell you about its construction, about pagan deities, and about the preserved mosaic.
- Geghard Monastery, according to legend, founded in the early years of Christianity (early 4th century). You will understand its global significance, see buildings in caves, imagine the lives of hermits, and enjoy the landscapes.
- Echmiadzin Monastery. Every nation has specially revered holy places - in Armenia, for almost 2 thousand years, it has been its ancient capital Echmiadzin. Here, in the Ararat Valley, you will hear about the fate of the ancient settlement of Vardkesavan and visit the Cathedral. Nearby, you will see the unique Zvartnots Temple with a stunning view of Ararat.
🍷 After that, we will visit the Proshyan Wine & Brandy Factory, where you will learn about the history of Armenian winemaking and why making brandy is considered an art. You will also taste 3 types of wine and 2 types of brandy - this is a gift from our team of guides. On the way back, you will admire the night lights of Yerevan.
❗ Echmiadzin Cathedral is currently under restoration, only an external observation is included in the program.
