About this experience
I want you to fall in love with Armenia the way I love it! Let's together explore the country's most important historical sites. Temples and monasteries, gorges, man-made cave and emerald lake - the ancient land will unfold before you like a scroll illustrated with magnificent landscapes.
What to Expect
Armenia is rich in landmarks and historical sites. But we won't try to visit dozens of monasteries, cathedrals or natural locations in one day. Instead, we will focus on the most interesting places to make the trip diverse and light. Now, more details on what you will see:
- Garni Gorge - a place that catches the attention of all those on their way to Garni. Here you will enjoy a breathtaking view of biblical Mount Ararat (on a clear day).
- Garni Pagan Temple - the most famous monument of the pre-Christian and Hellenistic era. We will talk about the curious religious paradoxes of ancient and modern Armenia. From the viewpoint near the temple, we'll observe the "Symphony of Stones" - a multitude of vertical stone columns on the canyon walls.
- Symphony of Stones - the rocks of the gorge consist of huge basalt columns overhanging the ground at a height of about 50 meters. They are arranged vertically, and their unusual hexagonal shape gives them a resemblance to organ pipes. Hence, the place is known by several names - "Stone Organ", "Basalt Organ", but the most common is "Symphony of Stones".
- Geghard Monastery - an amazing human creation. Walking through the halls, we will study the reliefs, each of which is a work of art. Here you can also buy the famous Geghard bread (traditional dessert).
- Master Levon's Magic Cave - we will descend into an underground labyrinth hand-carved by one person over more than 20 years. The cave is located under the house where the master lived. He created this wonder by himself, using an ordinary hammer and chisel. We are talking not about a few meters, but about a depth of 21 meters; under the house, there was not earth, but basalt - initially, an insurmountable barrier. The locals consider this place miraculous.
- Sevanavank Monastery - an ancient temple complex, mesmerizing at first sight with its unique architecture.
- Lake Sevan - one of the most beautiful lakes in the Caucasus. Located in a mountain bowl at an altitude of 1916 meters above sea level. We will admire its beauty and find out if it's true that the lake's waters change color like a chameleon.
