About this experience
This tour is perfect for your first trip from Yerevan and will introduce you to Armenia — with its beauty, religion, and ethnicity. Get ready to immerse yourself in ancient Greece at the pagan temple Garni, discover the legends of the cave monastery Geghard, taste fish at Lake Sevan. You will learn how the country embraced Christianity and hear various myths.
What to Expect
From Paganism: Garni Temple
Early in the morning, we will arrive in Garni. This is the only ancient temple in the territory of the post-Soviet republics. You will feel like you are in ancient Greece, observing the monumental columns. Immerse yourself in Armenian mythology, hear legends and beautiful stories about pagan gods, learn about the architecture, and even about dragons.
Before Christianity: Geghard Monastery
The second religious and cultural attraction on our route is the Geghard Monastery, carved into the rock. Here I will tell you how Armenia embraced Christianity and reveal the legend of Longinus' spear. Additionally, in the monastery, you will admire the skillful carvings and perhaps feel the energetic flows of this place.
Lake Sevan — Armenia's Blue Fairytale
The largest lake in the Caucasus, Lake Sevan will be remembered by you for its quiet harmonious landscapes. On the peninsula, we will visit the medieval Sevanavank Monastery and talk about the symbolism of Armenian cross-stones. To finish, I suggest tasting the famous Sevan trout and kebab made from crayfish necks!
