About this experience
From an ancient monument to a Christian haven - Armenia's landmarks are as diverse as the country itself. I will show you iconic places and introduce you to the history of my homeland. You will admire landscapes and ancient structures, taste local delicacies, and see the symbol of the Caucasus - the largest freshwater lake in the region. Get ready to immerse yourself in the vibrant and hospitable atmosphere of Armenia.
What to Expect
Encounter with a Sacred Structure
Garni Temple holds memories of pagan times. We will 'travel back' to learn about the fate of this building. Whose residence was here? How did the adoption of Christianity affect the temple built in honor of the Sun god? What happened to it after the earthquake? You will experience all the tragedies and joys of Garni, peek inside the sanctuary, and marvel at the craftsmanship of Armenian architects. If desired, you can also see a natural wonder - the 'Symphony of Stones' in the Garni Gorge.
From Polytheism to Christian Relic
The next stop of the tour is Geghard Monastery, built in the 4th century. I will share the most fascinating facts from its chronicles: who lived in one of the cells in the Middle Ages, why this construction is so remarkably 'resilient,' what is unique about this ancient structure, and much more. You will understand the place Geghard holds in the hearts of Christians and why it is included in UNESCO's list of cultural heritage. Additionally, at the monastery, you can taste the national pastry gata and buy Armenian sweets.
Azure Lake
Sevan is a treasure of Armenia, affectionately called 'our sea' by locals. The picturesque mountain landscapes will awe you with their beauty, while the lake's history will surprise you with interesting details. You will hear the legend of the lake's formation and the story of the famous trout harvesting. Visit Sevanavank Monastery on the lake's shore, offering a magnificent view of it.
