And also learn from the locals how to bake traditional Armenian lavash bread!
What to expect
Egish Charents Arch
First, you will stop near the Egish Charents arch with a mesmerizing view of Mount Ararat. The arch is named after the great Armenian poet Egish Charents, who loved to visit here.
Armenian myths, legends, and priesthood
We are going to Garni - the only pagan temple in the entire post-Soviet territory! Garni rises on a plateau, offering a picturesque view of the Azat River gorge. You will enjoy the surrounding panorama and learn about the fate of the temple. They will tell you which god it is dedicated to, why and by whom it was built in the Hellenistic architectural tradition, how many times it was resurrected from dust, and thanks to whom it survived after the adoption of Christianity. We will discuss the ornaments, see an ancient Greco-Roman bath with a mosaic of 30,000 pieces of natural stones and the ruins of a royal palace from the 3rd century AD. And then we will reach a local restaurant with a stunning view of the temple, where you will not only relax and unwind but also take part in a lavash baking master class - traditional Armenian bread.
Note: In winter, visiting the Symphony of Stones is possible only if the weather permits.
Flickering candles of ancient tradition
In the gorge of the mountain river Gokht, an ancient monastery with special energy is hidden. The word "Geghard" in Armenian means "spear." You will learn how this place is connected with the centurion Longinus the Centurion, understand why the complex symbolizes the golden age of the country's architecture, and see local shrines. We will look at the reliefs above the arches and graceful khachkars, peek into mysterious chapels, and notice how rays of light float along the unusual stalactite arches. Strolling through the monastery grounds, where time seems to have stopped, you will immerse yourself in a special state of kindness.
