About this experience
You will discover iconic architectural landmarks of the country and learn about the history of the Armenian people. I will share surprising facts about the attractions, customs, and culture, while the breathtaking views will immerse you in the local atmosphere. We will admire the snowy peaks of Mount Ararat and witness the sunbeam penetrating through the window, illuminating the temple space.
What to Expect
Biblical Mountain
Charenc Ark—a favorite place of a renowned Armenian writer—will offer us a pastoral landscape. On one side, you can see Yerevan, on the other side—Mount Ararat, clearly visible in the morning light.
Sun Temple
You will explore Garni—a Hellenistic-era monument which has been reconstructed from ruins multiple times. The temple's territory preserves remnants of an ancient fortress of the royal palace and a 3rd-century bathhouse. You will discover the significance of the exact 24 columns, how the pagan shrine survived during the spread of Christianity, and what message the Roman builders left for future generations. On our way to the temple, my friends will treat you to Armenian sweets and dried fruits.
Cave Monastery
Awe strikes you as you enter the cave entirely carved into the rock! It's hard to imagine all the rooms were made by people without sophisticated tools, only with faith. We will peek into small cave cells, chapels, and khachkars carved on the surface of the adjacent cliff. I will narrate the monastery's history and talk about the main relic—the Lance of Longinus that pierced the body of Jesus Christ. According to legend, one of the monks struck the rock with the lance, and ever since, a healing spring flows here.
