Kruja is an ancient picturesque town surrounded by mountains. It is an ideal destination for a day trip, as it is located just 30 km from Tirana. We will explore the historic fortress, enjoy magnificent views, visit an authentic Eastern bazaar, and climb the sacred mountain. I will tell you about the development of Kruja and what it is like today.
What to Expect
Historic Fortress and Enchanting Views
By car, we will ascend to the medieval fortress, where authentic houses from the 18th-19th centuries are preserved. We will stroll through the cobblestone streets and visit the lookout points with stunning panoramas. On a clear day, you can see the Adriatic Sea and neighboring towns - Kruja is rightfully called the balcony of the Adriatic. I will also show you the clock tower, ruins of a mosque, and an olive tree planted 500 years ago by the local hero Skanderbeg.
Mount Sari Saltik and Eastern Bazaar
We will visit the largest Eastern bazaar in Albania. Admire the vibrant carpets, traditional costumes, olive wood and silver products. Then we will ascend the winding mountain road to the sacred Mount Sari Saltik. Here you will learn about the Bektashi and what a tekke is. Optionally, at the end of the tour, you can visit an authentic establishment with national dishes, desserts, and drinks.
