About this experience
Gjirokastra is located in the mountain valley of Southern Albania, near the border with Greece. It is listed by UNESCO as a well-preserved city from the Ottoman Empire era. I will introduce you to the main landmarks of this incredibly atmospheric place and tell you about its key historical milestones. And of course, you will appreciate the photogenic appearance of Gjirokastra.
What to expect
On the tour, I will show you that Gjirokastra has everything a curious traveler needs. This includes a beautiful medieval castle with its legend, the lively Lower Town consisting of old houses, artworks, rich cultural heritage, and history connected to famous figures of Albania.
During the tour, we will visit the fortress, the Old Town, the Museum of Weapons, the area and house of Enver Hoxha, the former Albanian communist dictator. We will also see the district and house of Ismail Kadare, a globally renowned writer and Nobel Prize candidate.
