About this experience
I invite you to explore ancient Capua, which Cicero called the “Second Rome”. I will tell you about the uprising of Spartacus that originated here, show the sanctuary of the god Mithras, and explain why gladiators from the local school were supplied to the emperors themselves.
What to expect
Following the footsteps of gladiators
You will see the underground part of a huge center of ancient entertainments, where the decorations of bloody spectacles were kept, prisoners awaiting execution were held, and gladiators sharpened their weapons before combat. I will explain how the spectacles were organized and how the audience was seated. Additionally, I will show you the remains of the magnificent past decor and reliefs depicting female gladiators.
Historical museums and underground temple
We will visit the gladiator museum, where you will see the ceremonial gear of the fighters and a model of the once magnificent amphitheater. In the Archaeological Museum, I will introduce you to the unique Etruscan pottery - the predecessors of the Romans. You will examine household items of the people who inhabited Europe in the 1st millennium BC. Finally, I will show you the underground temple of the once mighty but now forgotten god Mithras.
