What to Expect
Large and Small Theaters and their Lounges
You will learn everything about the cultural life of Pompeii: how both theaters were built, what Pompeians watched in each of them, and how visitors were seated. I will reveal to you the secret of why the lounges are called gladiators' barracks.
Lifestyle of Ancient Pompeians
We will visit the homes of rich and poor residents, where well-preserved wall frescoes, household items, and personal belongings of ancient Pompeians can be seen. You will visit the house of Poppea's relatives, the second wife of Nero, learn what Roman aristocrats could afford, and immerse yourself in that time. We will visit the public baths of Pompeii, where I will tell you whether the Romans were clean.
Layout of the Ancient City
Walking through the main streets and boulevards of Pompeii, you will see the famous Roman roads with pedestrian crossings, learn about ancient fast food and its visitors. We will visit Stefano's laundry, where I will tell you what residents used instead of soap and what Emperor Vespasian has to do with it. You will visit a public brothel, the "lupanar," where you can see unique erotic frescoes and learn the history of this place.
