The Citadel of Qaitbay. This fortress was built in the 15th century on the site of the legendary Pharos Lighthouse, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. On the first floor of the fortress, you will see a tunnel through which soldiers could safely reach the port, on the second floor - soldiers' barracks and weapon storage, and on the third floor - the sultan's throne. From the top, you will enjoy breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea.
The Roman Amphitheatre, the only one in Egypt. It will transport you back to the times of ancient Roman rule. At one time, the theatre could accommodate up to 800 people. You will see 13 rows of tribunes made of white marble and pink granite, numbered with Greek letters and numerals.
The Mosque of Abu al-Abbas al-Mursi. One of the most famous and beautiful mosques in Alexandria, named after a Sufi saint who lived in the 13th century. When visiting the mosque, you will appreciate the Andalusian architectural style. The mosque is decorated with mosaic panels and artificial stone, and the upper part is adorned with paintings in the traditional Arab style.
The Alexandria Library. It was built in 2002 with the aim of reviving the legendary ancient library. You will admire the building designed in the form of a huge cylinder made of glass and aluminum. You will see the front part of the library, located under a 32-meter glass roof. The walls are inscribed with characters from 120 different writing systems.
