About this experience
Join us for an incredibly unique adventure day in Cairo that you will remember for a long time! We will visit a secret cemetery and explore the crypts of the 'City of the Dead,' where people live. We'll try to lift and balance a tray of flatbreads on our heads, just like local vendors do. We will help a family from the Zabbaleen community sort garbage and ride on a creepy open elevator.
What to Expect
Garbage Collector Quarter and 'City of the Dead'
Cairo is a large, diverse, and incredibly interesting metropolis. We will explore its non-parade but incredibly colorful neighborhoods. In the 'City of the Dead,' you will see human-populated Muslim tombs and crypts. In the 'Garbage Collector City,' you will meet a family from the Zabbaleen community, for whom garbage sorting has become the main activity. Additionally, we will climb the minaret of the ancient Ibn Tulun Mosque and explore the caves of the ancient Monastery of St. Simeon the Tanner.
The Real Cairo
To feel the city's energy, we will briefly transform into local residents. We will switch from a comfortable car to a wild minibus and ride on an old rickety elevator. We will also visit a government agency — a police station or a clinic — during 'rush hour.' Finally, we will try one of the spiciest dishes in the national cuisine, which sometimes even Egyptians cannot handle. Not scared? Then we are waiting for you on the tour!
Organizational Details
- The tour is completely safe but is suitable for prepared travelers. We will walk a lot in poor neighborhoods.

Important: Please confirm the booking by 4:00 PM the previous day in Egyptian time. If the tour is confirmed later, it may not be possible to conduct it.
Transfer
- For a group of up to 3 people, the tour is conducted in a comfortable sedan car (included in the price)
- The tour can be arranged for a larger group — in a minibus equipped with air conditioning and all necessary amenities (additional cost of 16€)
- If you need to be picked up in the airport area and/or taken there after the tour, there is an additional cost of 30€
