About this experience
Imagine: you are in Egypt, you have visited the pyramids, and now you need something interesting - something that can only be seen in the capital. And that's when we take you on a trip to the iconic places for Cairo residents, but often unexpected for travelers. You will be able to truly immerse yourself in Cairo - as it was in the past and as it is now.
What to expect
Ancient Egyptian and Christian Cairo
We will visit the Egyptian National Museum, whose exposition is entirely dedicated to the culture of Ancient Egypt. We will see the most interesting exhibits, including the famous golden mask of Tutankhamun. We will head to the Coptic quarter, known among locals as Old Cairo, also known as the Christian Babylon. We will explore several ancient churches, and most importantly - the church of St. Mary, hanging high above the ground.
Islamic and Modern Cairo
We will visit the most important monument for Muslims in Cairo - the Saladin Citadel, built in the 11th century to protect the city from the Crusaders. In the Citadel, we will visit the famous Muhammad Ali Mosque, also known as the Alabaster Mosque. Then our path will lead to the famous district called the City of Garbage Collectors - where garbage from all over Cairo is brought for further processing. The walk will conclude with a visit to the cave monastery of St. Simon in the heart of the Mokattam Mountain.
