About this experience
If you find yourself in Budapest - congratulations on discovering the most beautiful gem in the Danubian capitals' necklace. The view of my native city from the Gellert Hill has been breathtaking the spirits of millions of visitors and the Hungarians themselves - the Magyars for hundreds of years. The majestic Danube with graceful bridges, the ancient Buda on the hills, and the dynamic multi-faceted Pest - all must be seen in full and examined in detail, which you will do on my tour. I will show you the city as the locals know it, so that you would want to come back here again and again.
What to expect
What Budapest cannot be imagined without
On my tour, each landmark will become a vivid illustration of events from Hungary's past and present. Visiting Heroes' Square with the monumental monument in honor of the 1000th anniversary of the homeland's gaining, you will understand that this sculptural group is a real historical reader. You will see the City Park and Vajdahunyad Castle - a real architectural treasure museum, go inside St. Stephen's Basilica and look at the imperishable relics of the founder of the Hungarian state. We will drive along the grand Andrassy Avenue, align with the magnificent Parliament building, the Buda Castle, and the romantic Fisherman's Bastion. And on Gellert Hill, you will reach an excellent viewing platform to look at Budapest from a bird's eye view.
A local's story about the city and the country's history
I will talk about Budapest without unnecessary, forgettable dates and difficult-to-pronounce names, but with a touch of irony and humor. As a native Hungarian and a person who has lived here in 5 different periods, I will be able to present to you the history of the city and the country as the Magyars themselves see it. I will tell you about episodes of the glorious nomadic past and the homeland's gaining, the 150-year Turkish occupation, the unique rise of national spirit during the Austro-Hungarian monarchy period, the decades of our shared past with Russia, and the choice of the European path. All these events will
