About this experience
Beyond the urban paradise of the capital, you will discover two charming cities nestled on the banks of the silvery Danube. In medieval Visegrad, we will talk about the fortress with a 1000-year history, the mysterious Solomon Tower, and Count Dracula. And in Serbian Szentendre - about authentic crafts, aromatic gastronomy, and the Orthodox Hungary.
What to Expect
Visegrad: inspiring panoramas and ancient spirit
Just 50 km away from Budapest, you will find yourself in a space with a completely different historical atmosphere and natural charm. I will tell you how the city miraculously preserved its Slavic name, why so many fortifications were built on the Danube bend since ancient times, and what role was played by the Visegrad Fortress, the first version of which was built at the beginning of the 11th century! You will also learn about the secrets of the surviving Solomon Tower and its connection to Count Dracula, get acquainted with the history of the royal residence, and, if desired, taste the wonderful aromatic coffee, which is really worth trying here.
Hospitable and colorful Szentendre
In the second city, the stage and scenery will change completely - and you will see a much younger city, founded by Serbs, with different heroes, ethnic composition, religious traditions, and contemporary way of life. In the cozy streets, near creative workshops, we will talk about the original crafts of Szentendre. I will separately tell you about the gastronomic world, enticing with marzipan treasures, authentic wine cellars with fruit brandy 'palinka', ubiquitous paprika, goose liver claiming to be the most 'Hungarian', tastes of langos and kalach with mangalica smoke. In addition, you will visit at least one temple, where we will talk about Orthodoxy in Hungary. And you will walk along one of the narrowest streets in Europe to the city hill to enjoy memorable panoramas.
