What to Expect
Diverse Istanbul
You will visit the most picturesque and amazing places in the city. The program includes:
- Kadikoy District - the modern part of Istanbul where the secular population lives. We will walk along the famous Moda promenade, through the streets of artists and antique shops. See where the youth spend their evenings.
- Eminonu - one of the oldest districts in the city. Near the ancient Galata Bridge and fish market, I will show you where to try the legendary balik-ekmek. Besides, you will see a private harem and the resting places of Ottoman sultans and learn about the architecture and traditions of the 17th century.
- Bosphorus Ferry Ride - you will enjoy views of Hagia Sophia's minarets, the Galata Tower, Suleymaniye Mosque, and Topkapi Palace from the water. You will uncover secrets of the 'Golden Age' and learn about the role of sultan's wives in famous dynasties.
- Sacred Uskudar - a district in the Asian part of the city where traditionally-minded people live. Here, I will tell you about the founding of Istanbul and its conquest by the Romans. Also about the Byzantine, Latin, and Ottoman periods in the city's history. Additionally, you will stroll along the picturesque waterfront and, if desired, visit the local market and ancient fish market.
- Mihrimah Sultan Mosque - the mosque of the daughter of Suleiman the Magnificent and his wife Roxelana. You will learn about her life and explore the former ceremonial hall and the museum of the sultan's wives.
- Maiden's Tower - you will hear its mysterious legends, see the bridge connecting two 'worlds,' and understand why this place is so popular among travelers.
- Kuzguncuk District - populated by Jews and Christians, it will reveal a completely different Istanbul to you. You will stroll through paved streets, examine wooden houses from the 19th century, and hear the unique history of one of the most tolerant districts in Istanbul.
